Friday

Yesterday was a pretty long day. Jack's doctor said on Thursday that he would probably be moved out of ICU by the end of the day Thursday or first thing Friday morning. So, we were all pumped thinking he would be in his new room first thing. How quickly I forget that things do not move that fast at the hospital! Dr. Ahmed came by around 2:00 and gave him the green light to move but they didn't have any rooms available at that time on the floor he needed to go to. In the meantime, Jack was able to eat his first liquids - chicken broth, juice and jello! He did great with this and was definitely ready for more when they brought lunch. Unfortunately, he had a spike in his blood sugar - probably from the juices so that halted the moving and eating plans for a while. So, long story short we finally got him into his room around 10:45 last night. We are so glad to be able to see him more! I think he must be feeling pretty well this morning because he called our hotel about 6:45 this morning just to see what we were doing...
